Kenneth Kelly joined First Independence Bank as Chairman & CEO in 2017. Through his leadership, broad-scale vision, and bridge-building capabilities, Kelly has grown the bank to becoming one of the largest mission-driven institutions in the U.S. His efforts helped catapult First Independence Bank’s footprint from local to national and is on track to becoming a billion-dollar institution.
A sought-after and well-respected industry expert, thought leader, and speaker, Kelly lends his skills and expertise on several boards and various appointments. He is now the newly elected Chair of the American Bankers Association, a prestigious and historic role. He currently holds a board advisory role with the Federal Reserve Bank Minneapolis and held prior roles with the Federal Reserve Bank Chicago, and the National Bankers Association to name a few.
Prior to joining First Independence Bank, Kelly retired from Southern Company after 27 years. He held many leadership positions in engineering, HR, supply chain, commercial and industrial sales, business development, and in mergers & acquisitions.
Kenneth Kelly is married with two adult children. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University, and an MBA from the University of Alabama.
