(MI) Loss Prevention/Fraud Analyst


Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated, well organized and possess prior banking experience, including Fraud, Loss Prevention, and knowledge of BSA compliance. The Loss Prevention/Fraud Analyst will be responsible for daily reviews of alerts generated from our transaction monitoring system to detect indicators of possible Fraud and potential losses to the bank. This position has the responsibility to assist with ensuring that the bank’s established processes to reduce loss exposure are properly executed bank-wide including, but not limited to, deposit and loan product, services including debit cards, ATM cards, Electronic Banking (ACH and online) and other ancillary products exposure to the bank. Applicant will provide back up support in BSA/AML as needed and as such should have knowledge of the BSA.



  • Conducts timely and meticulous review and analysis of transaction monitoring alerts triggered for the purpose of identifying red flags associated with any potential fraud.
  • Manages daily input and review of the e-Funds module which includes Qualifile, Sentry, ChexSystems and all related ancillary reporting software.
  • Works directly with the branch and operations staff on open cases including the completion of appropriate paperwork to expedite dispute resolutions.  Maintains regulatory documentation related to these cases.
  • Initiates collections on all deposit-related losses.
  • Assist Compliance Officer in preparing various monthly and year-to-date reports on security/fraud/losses for reporting to the Board
  • Various Transactional Monitoring in the bank’s monitoring software including Alert Review & Analysis, clearing alerts with clear concise narratives, and transitioning alert to Case when further investigation is needed.
  • Assist Case Investigations including but not limited to building cases with detailed narratives and working with the Compliance Officer in preparing all SAR/No SAR decisions as well as filings.
  • Assists Compliance Officer with research involving third-party requests for information including court

orders, subpoenas, and periodic compliance audits relating to security.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field, associate degree plus combination of work experience, or equivalent work experience in the banking industry. Additional certification and/or experience a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working in fraud and/or Loss Prevention and minimum of one year experience in fraud monitoring software.

  • Job Knowledge and Skills Required: Knowledge of Fraud risks and red flags associated with the identification of potential fraudulent transactional activity. Willingness to accept constructive feedback and adapt accordingly is a necessity given the regulatory nature of the work.
  • Technology Skills Required: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience using Verafin® transaction monitoring software a plus.
